Jerry Jackson, loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep at the age of 88, and was welcomed into the arms of his loving savior, Jesus Christ.

He was born in Santa Ana, California, raised in the city of Orange, and graduated from Orange High School in 1946, where he starred for the football and track teams all four years. He remained physically active his entire life.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served four years.  He was assigned to Treasure Island Naval Station, where he played football for the Navy.  He also served aboard the U.S.S. Hamner in the Korean War and worked as a radar specialist.

He worked as a design engineer for several aerospace companies for many years, and eventually retired from Boeing, where he designed control panels for several NASA space shuttles.

Jerry was active in local politics, having been elected to the Orange County Republican Party Central Committee, where he served for 26 years.

Jerry was also a man of great faith, and served as an elder and prayer partner at his church, Calvary Chapel, Anaheim, for 35 years.  He was a wonderful example of God’s love to all he met. We will truly miss his smiling face and warm hugs.

He is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 57 years, his daughter Shelley, her husband Everett, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Anthony Skillman.

Burial with honors will take place on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery.
