He was born on April 1, 1922, in Marksville, Louisiana to the Rev. Joseph Ford and Mrs. Velonia (Johnson) Ford. He was one of fourteen children born in this union. He has one remaining brother the Rev. Ernest Ford.
Rev. Joseph Ford relocated his family to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1924. Ezekiel Nathaniel Ford attended school up to the eight grade and had to leave school to help out his family around their farm.
He left home to join the military during WW2. After leaving the military he lived in Texas and Idaho, and other states before setting in California.
He met our beloved Mother Reaner Mae (Dennis) Ford in 1958, who preceded him in death. This union together produced five children. Ezekiel Ford, Jr., (Tracey), of Los Angeles, California. Eileen Bryant, of Anchorage, Alaska. Joseph Ford who preceded him in death. June Alexander (Raymond), of Los Angeles, California. Gale Ford of Riverside, California.
He leaves to cherish his children who he had from previous relationships Felicia Ford of Jonesboro, Georgia. Trina Ford of Wisconsin. Renee Ford of Nebraska. Paul Ford who died while serving his country in Lebanon.
His eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren gave him so much joy. One sister in-law Pearlene Coleman of Los Angeles California. A host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Ezekiel Nathaniel Ford was always known by Mr. Ford. It didn’t matter how old a person was they always called him Mr. Ford.
Our father had a career as a truck driver for Safeway Food/Bakery he retired in 1975. Our father had his own lawn care business for many years and enjoyed hard work.
Rev. Ezekiel Ford was an ordained Baptist Minister. He served as Assistant Pastor at different churches until his late 70’s.
Our father was a stylish dresser and he love cars. His children appreciated his strict authority. He taught us how to respect authority and when he spoke, we listened. He taught us how to ride our bikes and taught us how to skate. We are truly grateful and appreciate the fact that our father allowed us to attend church with our Aunt Ethel B. (Doll) Guest.
Our father loved sports, especially baseball, where his favorite teams were the Los Angeles Dodgers and at that time the California Angels. He loved boxing and wrestling. Our father loved watching westerns such as Gunsmoke, Big Valley, Rifleman, Bonanza, and many others.
Shortly before his death, he said he loved all of his children and we will take comfort in knowing this for the rest of our lives.
